Things seemed to reach an all time low during my time working as a Junior Doctor in Central London. I was really struggling with my physical and mental health. emotional dysregulation, executive dysfunction, boredom, inattention and restlessness dominated my life. I felt overwhelmed about what to cook, feeling easily bored with food. I found it difficult to plan my meal times ahead often eating impulsively and bingeing on lots of sugary snacks. I would go for several hours during my shifts without realising I was hungry and then brain fog, headaches and tiredness would kick in. It felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster most days and the mood swings were bringing me down. I knew exercise would help but no matter what I tried, I couldn't seem to get in a regular routine or find exercise I enjoyed. I was sleep deprived and low in energy and motivation. I ended up seeing a psychiatrist, then a psychologist and having CBT but it took another 8 years until I was finally diagnosed with ADHD.
Being diagnosed as ADHD really helped me to make sense of the challenges I faced with my emotions, my eating habits and my health. I now have systems and routines in place to help me plan my meals and snacks and to ensure I am eating regular, nutritious meals. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I have a healthier relationship with food and have found other ways to deal with my emotions. I prioritise sleep. I've also managed to nail down a regular yet flexible routine with exercise- I can't live without it! Medications didn't work for me so exercise and good nutrition and adequate sleep have really helped me to manage the overwhelm of living with ADHD. And now I've created The ADHD Nutrition Prescription to support other ADHD Women to transform their lifestyle and take control of their ADHD symptoms.

I've trained and qualified as a General Practitioner (MRGP) and more recently I've gained a level 5 Diploma as an MNU Certified Nutritionist (MN. Nutr).

For years I thought something was inherently wrong with me. Why couldn't I seem to do the simple, routine things that other people seemed to find easy? Why did my emotions seem out of control? Why did I find time management so impossible? Why couldn't I seem to create the life I dreamed of? The list goes on... Being diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood felt like a relief - it all began to make sense. It also felt overwhelming learning to unmask, getting to know who I really am and allowing myself to find a different way of doing things rather than battling against my ADHD and trying to fit the 'neurotypical' way of doing life.
Before learning that I was neurodivergent I couldn't understand why my eating habits seemed so chaotic. My sugar cravings and emotional eating dictated my diet and even though I wanted to eat healthy foods I was so stuck in a rut and couldn't seem to get out! Headaches, stomach aches and bloating were the norm for me. I knew I needed to exercise but couldn't seem to get in a routine and my sleep was all over the place. I was overworked and unfulfilled in my career and craved space in my life to do the things that would bring me happiness.
Things are different now. Learning I am ADHD has helped me make sense of it all. I am finally able to put my own needs first instead of trying to fit in. I put a good nights sleep or a gym class ahead of sitting at my laptop. I work less, not more. I make time for the things that bring me joy. And it's only since doing this that I have been able to truly create the life I want and take my career in a whole new direction as an ADHD Nutritionist - I've found my calling!
For years I thought something was inherently wrong with me. Why couldn't I seem to do the simple, routine things that other people seemed to find easy? Why did my emotions seem out of control? Why did I find time management so impossible? Why couldn't I seem to create the life I dreamed of? The list goes on... Being diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood felt like a relief - it all began to make sense. It also felt overwhelming learning to unmask, getting to know who I really am and allowing myself to find a different way of doing things rather than battling against my ADHD and trying to fit the 'neurotypical' way of doing life.
Before learning that I was neurodivergent I couldn't understand why my eating habits seemed so chaotic. My sugar cravings and emotional eating dictated my diet and even though I wanted to eat healthy foods I was so stuck in a rut and couldn't seem to get out! Headaches, stomach aches and bloating were the norm for me. I knew I needed to exercise but couldn't seem to get in a routine and my sleep was all over the place. I was overworked and unfulfilled in my career and craved space in my life to do the things that would bring me happiness.
Things are different now. Learning I am ADHD has helped me make sense of it all. I am finally able to put my own needs first instead of trying to fit in. QUESTION: WHAT IF I HAVEN'T BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ADHD, CAN I STILL DO THE PROGRAM?
Answer: Yes of course! I work with a range of women. Those who have a confirmed diagnosis, some who are self-diagnosed, women who suspect they might be ADHD or those awaiting a formal assessment. I also work with women who are aren't ADHD but feel they can relate to the same problems and challenges of overwhelm, procrastination and emotional-eating.
QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NUTRITIONIST & A HEALTH COACH?
Answer: A Nutritionist is qualified to support clients around food and healthy eating. A Health Coach helps you to explore your relationship with food and help you to make behavioural changes using various skills and tools. As a Nutritionist and Coach you'll receive the benefit of both of these expertise and skill sets by working with me.
Answer: The coaching sessions are not a medical consultation and I am not working in the capacity as a doctor. I wont be able to answer any medical questions or diagnose you with any new conditions. I will be supporting you as a Nutritionist and a Coach, I'll signpost you to where to get the right help if it's something I'm unable to help you within in this capacity.
Answer: The ADHD Nutrition Prescription is a 3 month program spanning over 12 weeks. The minimum commitment will be 1 hour a week to join me in private 1:1 coaching sessions or by accessing pre-recorded videos. You'll have ongoing access to the private Facebook group beyond the 3 months.
